Overview

 

　　A protocol converter, also known as an interface converter, enables hosts on a communication network—each using different higher-layer protocols—to still collaborate effectively and seamlessly execute various distributed applications. It operates at the transport layer or higher. Typically, an interface protocol converter can be implemented using just one ASIC chip, making it cost-effective and compact in size. This device facilitates bidirectional conversion between IEEE 802.3 Ethernet or V.35 data interfaces and standard G.703 2M interfaces.
